First Baptist Church of Christ

Children’s Choirs

First Baptist Church of Christ has a rich musical heritage and deep appreciation for meaningful worship. We believe that part of teaching our children to worship is teaching them how to “make a joyful noise!” Preschool and children’s choirs teach children of all ages to love music and participate in worship. All of our graded choir workers have many years of experience in leading children’s choirs, and almost all have bachelors or masters degrees in the music field.

Choirs meet on Wednesdays from 5:50-6:35 p.m. in the Children’s Area.

The following are choirs for preschoolers and children:

>>

Two Year Olds. This class will focus on enjoying music through listening, singing, and movement, and is not a performing choir.

>>

Three Year Olds. This class will focus on enjoying music through listening, singing, and movement, and is not a performing choir.

>>

Four and Five Year Olds. This class will begin learning musical concepts as they continue listening, singing, and moving. They sing in worship service only for the Hanging of the Chrismons. (No child is ever required to sing in front of an audience.)

>>

>>

Music Makers Choir (First and Second Graders). These children will continue learning musical concepts through activities and singing and will learn what it means to be a good choir member. This choir will perform occasionally.

>>

>>

>>

>>

Young Musicians Choir  (Third through Fifth Graders). This choir will focus on learning musical concepts and vocal skills from the music they sing, and what it means to lead in worship through music. Most years a musical drama is presented, as well as singing in worship services and for other special events.
