College Ministry

First Baptist Church has deep ties to the colleges and universities in Macon, Mercer University in particular.  in fact, First Baptist Church was instrumental in helping Mercer move from its original home in Penfield, GA to Macon. 

 

Many of our “homegrown” students go away to colleges around the Southeast and find spiritual homes away from home.  As a church located less than a mile from Mercer, 4 miles from Wesleyan College and 7.5 miles from Macon State College, we seek to be a spiritual home away from home for college and graduate students in the Macon area.

 

The focus of our college ministry is the Cooperative Student Fellowship at Mercer, led by our Minister of Youth and Outreach, Reverend Jody Long.  CSF meets during the semester on Tuesday nights at 8:30 pm in the University Center at Mercer.  CSF’s focus is transforming our confession of faith into action.  With mission events like NowServing, a gathering of collegiate ministries in Atlanta for one day of missions, a Spring Break Mission Trip, and local mission projects, CSF seeks to grow as disciples of Christ by serving God and our neighbor.
